Measuring 30cm wide and 15cm tall, this carved wood relief panel depicts a traditional Chinese gathering of two seated scholars in flowing robes engaged in drinking and conversation, attended by three servants. The high-relief carving is finished in red lacquer with gold gilding on the figures' garments and details, set within a raised rectangular frame. A gnarled tree branch with foliage overhangs the scene from the upper left, while the figure on the right stands beside a deer-like creature. The reverse shows unfinished wood with natural grain and age-related wear, confirming its origin as an architectural or furniture inset panel.
